JSR bumping resist prices
Date: November, 2008Nov. 13, 2008 - JSR Corp. says it will raise prices for its g- and i-line "PFR" series photoresists by 6%-10% to offset "substantial" increases in its raw materials and utility costs.
The company had pursued productivity improvements, rather than price increases, to offset its own rising costs for raw materials, utilities, and freight but says it can no longer "offset the magnitude of these increases and must pursue the only remaining option."
As an example, pricing for key raw materials from China for g-line and i-line resists have spiked 10%-40% due to shortages for the photosensitive base material. Also, chemical products have become more expensive due to the increase in crude oil, and have remained high due to global economic uncertainty, the company said.
