SEMI's policy wish-list for US prez candidates
Date: July, 2008by Pete Singer, editor-in-chief, Solid State Technology
Vicki Hadfield, president, of SEMI North America, outlines SEMI's stance on the four "Ts" of U.S. government policy key to its members: tax, trade, technology, and talent. She tells SST's editor-in-chief, Pete Singer, that SEMI North America has sent a position statement to both U.S. presidential candidates on these issues. Key elements of the platform are tax credits for solar energy, a one-year depreciation for equipment, and an increase in the high-skill H1-B visa quota. Hadfield also opens up about the need for the U.S. government to prioritize investments in alternative energy.
